What's in a Word?

This review is for “What’s in a Word?: Fascinating Stories of More Than 350 Words and Phrases”, written by Webb Garrison. I found this book to be a very fun read. It is one of those great coffee table books. It is the kind of book that you glance through when you have a few minutes here and there. It isn’t what I would consider if I were looking for a book to sit and read for hours on end. One such instance in which I found this book to be particularly fun is during road trips. It was a lot of fun for the passenger (of course) to read aloud to help entertain the driver and anyone else in the vehicle. As far as content, it is pretty light, but it is also very fun. Though it’s light reading, it’s definitely a lot of fun. It was very interesting to learn where a lot of our words and sayings came from. I would venture to say that I didn’t know at least 90% of what is in this book. All things considered, I would definitely recommend “What’s in a Word?” Fascinating Stories of More Than 350 Words and Phrases” for those seeking a light and fun read.

Note to the reader: I received this book for free from the BookSneeze program, through Thomas Nelson Publishers.
